    Get PDF
This study is aimed to prove how Virtual Environments (VE) and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) can be used as a tool to verify professional competencies. The incursion of virtual environments in education has shown that there is much potential in distance learning development. To find out how it influences the achievement of competencies, there was made an experimental study with a post-test design and control group. Students were divided into two groups; each of them was submitted to a different test. The results demonstrate that with the implementation of VE using ICT, the students who used the VE had a better performance than students who used the traditional evaluations. Confirmed with the 83% of the sample who achieved the highest levels (50% got strategical professional competencies, and 33% got autonomous professional competencies). Considering the study, the authors could notice that students do develop professional competencies along virtual environments, reflected not only in the level of competence achieved by the ones tested on the virtual environment but also in the average time they spend to do the test. Therefore, virtual environments have positives effects in the education field

Since there has been an important increase in unmanned vehicles systems research such as quadrotors, a mathematical model and PID control laws are studied. Based on some dynamic variables, PID control is applied to compute a controller to be then use in autopilot simulations. As this kind of VTOL vehicle seems to be unstable, the aim of this work is to change even other flight mechanics parameters and control gains to study attitude and altitude variations. A well-known computational tool is used for simulation purposes, performance analysis and validation

This article shows the construction of software applications Cyclon Language First Grade App, like a strategy in which communities of practice, learning, knowledge, innovation and transformation are generated, understood as a transversal process, where collaborative, problematizing learning is encouraged, by critical inquiry, permanent interaction, cultural negotiations and the dialogue of knowledge, typical of the pedagogical proposal of the Ondas program. It is summarized in the following aspects: “Building an identity that incorporates the recognition of science and technology as a constituent element of everyday culture both in individuals and in the communities and institutions of which they are part, involving various sectors of society: productive, social, political, state and in the various territorial areas: local, departmental and national. Development of forms of organization oriented to the appropriation of values that recognize a cultural identity around science and technology in the aspects mentioned in the previous point. This implies models of participation, social mobilization and public recognition of scientific and technological activity. On the other hand, the incorporation of the research activity in the elementary and middle school involves the development of national, departmental and local financing mechanisms; in such a way that children and young people can develop their abilities and talents in a favorable environment of both social recognition and economic conditions. Development of a methodological strategy supported by ICT that helps the Colombian population to recognize and apply both individually and collectively, science and technology through research activities designed according to the characteristics of the scientific method. “The appropriation of ICTs as a constitutive part of the citizen and democratic culture of the CT + I and the construction of virtual reality as central to the process of knowledge democratization

This article describes a simulation for resource allocation. As a particular case, it describes how would be the assignment in an ad hoc network. We present the results of a simulation allocating resources from one system (communications network) to another system (agent collections). In the description of the model first shows the behavior of the allocation of resources towards the nodes depending on the usefulness of the network and the satisfaction of the agents. Based on the mathematical model of the tragedy of the commons, the behavior of the system is shown. The usefulness and satisfaction of the system are measured. Resource allocation is modeled as an interaction. The computational model Interaction Nets is used as the basis of the simulation

This research work is aimed at strengthening the resources that farmers have for crops management of pests and diseases in a digital way using internet of things through the development of a prototype. It can obtain important information of variables within a strawberry crop such as Relative Humidity, temperature and pH. These data are processed and received by means of protocols in real time. These devices allow managing the information of different variables through communication among sensors. This study presents the most critical characteristics of the strawberry by using the data collection of an IoT system. In this way the initial results can demonstrate that the system yields important information for the appropriate management of strawberry crop production

The interaction between the oceanic and continental basins has been of general interest among the scientific community of multiple disciplines, from the physical perspective of how the interaction of fresh and salt waters mutually modulate their hydrodynamic behavior, and how this in turn determines the transport of sediments, nutrients and other tracers, in addition to inducing changes in the morphodynamics of the river and / or coastal-oceanic zone. Due to the importance of technology for the prevention of different environmental phenomena, this article aims to show the systematic review of the literature about different applications that allow software and hardware interaction to support decision making in the sense of aquifers

The efficiency of a productive sector is measured at the regional level by the ability to fully supply the domestic market and generate surpluses that allow it to export, currently Colombia has three free trade agreements that would allow it to export meat, with the United States, the European Union and Canada, however, we are talking about economies with a technician bovine production sector, in some cases with the compensated basket, or subsidized production, with superior infrastructure and an exchange rate in their favor, therefore the technological lag in the department the possibility of accessing international markets would be increasingly remote. This article shows the design of the architecture of applied technology, in a sector of high relevance in Colombia

Bayesian Classifiers in Intrusion Detection Systems

    Get PDF
To be able to identify computer attacks, detection systems that are based on faults are not dependent on data base upgrades unlike the ones based on misuse. The first type of systems mentioned generate a knowledge pattern from which the usual and unusual traffic is distinguished. Within computer networks, different classification traffic techniques have been implemented in intruder detection systems based on abnormalities. These try to improve the measurement that assess the performance quality of classifiers and reduce computational cost. In this research work, a comparative analysis of the obtained results is carried out after implementing different selection techniques such as Info.Gain, Gain ratio and Relief as well as Bayesian (Naïve Bayes and Bayesians Networks). Hence, 97.6% of right answers were got with 13 features. Likewise, through the implementation of both load balanced methods and attributes normalization and choice, it was also possible to diminish the number of features used in the ID classification process. Also, a reduced computational expense was achieved

Certain vehicles need to send information to their monitoring stations constantly, this information is usually sent by the vehicles, through the cellular network. The use of these wireless networks depends on coverage that it is not usually available in all geographic areas. This is the case of road segments where the coverage of data service of cellular networks is partial or zero, making transmission impossible. A particular case is the roads between the municipality of Juan de Acosta and the city of Barranquilla in Atlántico department (Colombia). As a solution, Delay-Tolerant Networks (DTN) emerge, which allow the transmission of data to the monitoring stations when there is no cellular network coverage. In this work, a simulated evaluation of the performance of some message routing protocols for DTN is performed, in the Juan de Acosta – Barranquilla scenario. Using “The Opportunistic Networking Environment”, we determined the performance of these message routing protocols. The results show that the first contact message routing protocol, presents the highest rate of delivery messages (delivery rate) and the lowest delivery latency (delivery latency). In addition, the Spray and Wait protocol presents better results in System message overload (overhead) than the first one. The Opportunistic Networking Environment simulator, the performance of these message routing protocols was determined in this scenario. The results show that the Firstcontact message routing protocol presents the highest rate of delivery (deliveryrate) and the lowest delivery delay (deliverylatency). In addition, the Spray and Wait protocol has a better result in system overhead than the first one
